Looking round the nursery yesterday I was pleased to find an interesting new Clematis C. chiisanensis 'Lemon Bells'. The flowers are similar in form to C. macropetala but instead of blue they are a deepish lemony yellow. The young stems are a contrasting deep purple. Growth seemed to be strong and the stems were robust.
The seed heads appear to be a good size and should develop into those nice little old-mans-beard bundles of fluff.
This is a welcome new introduction - but is it too subtle for the average gardener?
