It seems to me that there are a load more wild daffodils around my neck-of-the-woods than there used to be. I don't know if it's down to better woodland management, climate change, or less picking by pikeys - whatever the reason it's a 'good thing' IMHO.
The best stand of wild daffs (Narcissus pseudonarcissus) that I know in my area is near Christchurch on Meyrick Estate land right alongside the A35. You can park close by and view the Daffys from the pavement (sidewalk) however take great care as the road is busy and the 40mph signs mostly ignored.
It looks to me as though this stand of Daffs is close to the wild type,
you can see some variation and that might be down to crossing with
garden types but on the whole this is a fine stand and credit to
Meyricks for creating the right conditions for them to flourish.
Now, you can see some pics of these Wild Daffys
as a simple slide show but if you add the Piclens plugin to your
browser you can see a rather nice 3D presentation of the images. This plugin works for most browsers including the excellent Firefox (my preference).
Piclens seems to have a wide variety of applications - I've yet to experiment with the RSS side of it but will do soon.
Let me know if it works for you.
